Silver Coast Golf
– quiet courses and spectacular scenery
Please note this is an archived article. Golden Eagle golf course, shown in the photograph below, is now closed.
The Silver Coast is one of Portugal’s hottest new golf destinations. With world-class courses like Praia d’el Rey setting the standard for some exacting golfing among the spectacular scenery of the Atlantic Coast this is the region that more and more discerning golfers are turning to.
One of the newer arrivals is the course at Bom Sucesso which traverses the hills between the ocean and Óbidos lagoon; but this is by no means the last in a programme of golf development that will transform this region in the coming years.
The Royal Óbidos golf course, designed by Seve Ballesteros, is now under construction and there are more courses in the pipeline just north of Foz do Arelho and in the Bom Sucesso area.
The attraction of the Silver Coast is that the courses are quieter, cheaper and every bit as good as their counterparts in the popular Algarve region. And there is a course for every taste, from the open skies of links courses through to fairways lined with pine trees and greens defended by sparkling lakes.
