– a world of fun
It is not all about beaches and countryside on the Silver Coast. Here there is something to keep the kids happy and occupied no matter what the weather is doing.
On sunny days head for one of the water parks located in the area. Just to the north of Nazaré is Norpark http://www.norpark.com.pt/, a family friendly park with both fast slides for those above the age of six and gentler slides for the younger ones. Also on site is a large play pool for small children, a semi-Olympic-sized pool for more serious swimmers, a hydro massage pool, giant Jacuzzi and restaurant.
On the outskirts of Peniche is Sportágua http://www.sportagua.com/, another water park designed to cater for all ages. As well as slides the park has swimming pools for adults and a children’s pool where the maximum depth is 60cm. There is a restaurant on site for when the family has worked up enough of an appetite from the sliding and swimming.
In the summer months the sailing club on Óbidos Lagoon, Escola de Vela da Lagoa, http://www.escoladeveladelagoa.com/ runs lessons and activity clubs for children that include sailing, canoeing and a range of water-based activities. The Silver Coast is also a great place to learn surfing and schools such as Peniche Surf Camp http://www.penichesurfcamp.com/ offer courses for all ages and abilities.
Karting, bowling and ball ponds
For adventure of a different kind try the go-karts at Dinokart http://www.dinokart.com.pt/ near Lourinhã or Kiro Karting http://www.kiro-karting.com/ near Bombarral. Both have karts to rent and great tracks to ride them on for an adrenaline-fuelled afternoon.
And you don’t have to worry what the weather is doing to enjoy the ten-pin bowling at the Caldas da Rainha bowling alley http://www.bowlingcaldas.com/. With ten bowling lanes and a restaurant and bar attached this is a great place to spend time with the family. There is often live entertainment or DJs in the evenings, plus snooker and a wall full of video games to keep everyone entertained.
